What do you think your daily driver has for an 8 year cost to own? Excluding insurance what do you expect you pay to fuel and maintain your vehicle?
I'm trying to do a cost/benefit examination of the Tesla Model S.

Including lease/payments/depreciation?

Assume a cash purchase and exclude depreciation.

Wel I have had my car less than a year and "maintenance" has been around 10grand so far.....Thank you GM for making a car prone to failure.
Also, since December I have filled the tank three times a week every week costing me around 40$ per fillup....
So a Shit load for someone who drives a lot like I do.

For a 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton V8, eight years fuel and maintenance = about $60K (if it's driven daily, which mine is not).

Gas/year: $3,600 (assumes $3.85 for 93, 22k miles/year)
Insurance/year: $1,230 (two payments of $615)
Oil changes/year: $160 (twice a year, $80 each)
Maintenance/year: $1,200 (assumes $100/month)
Tires/year: $450 (assumes $900 for tires every 2 years)
Total: $6,640/year x 8 = $53,120. Add $7,000 for supercharger and $3,500 for asploded transmission after supercharger is installed.

2000 Peugeot 406 coupe.
I drive about 25k km (15.5k miles) a year, fuel costs me about €0.065 a km, so that's €13k for 8 years. Assuming fuel prices will stay stable.
Maintenance. That's going to be a tough one to predict, I don't do anything but very basic stuff myself but I do have a 'guy'. I'll guesstimate: €750 a year. Total: €6k.
Total cost of ownership (fuel/maintenance only) for 8 years: €19k = $25.5k
Insurance is €40 a month now, but will drop a little every year. Let's assume €40 a month over 8 years and you've got another €3840 ($5.2k)

1990 Miata 185k miles
I drive about 10k per year
Purchase Price $1000
Service to fix previous owners 'mods' - $1000
Annual Maintenance (est) - $500 ($300 brakes and oil changes, $200 misc.)
Gas - $1800 Annually
$20400 - Total for 8 years, (I won't keep it that long, but I don't doubt it would make it.) I DIY my own maintenance, have had 3 Miata's and have never had to do anything more than oil and brakes to keep the cars going. So Maintenance might be low over all....but not far off.

And I don't even want to compare that to what it was to own my 2000 328ci...
The maintenance on that car was like 5k per year!

$10,600 is based on average of the last 37 months I've been keeping track of gas & maintence with aCar app. This is for a beater metro with 248K miles on it now. I've had it for 6.5 years.

You are a beast for driving that 100 miles daily. Good form.

How do you only change your oil twice a year if you are driving 22k miles per year?

My E46 tells me to change my oil every 15,000 miles, but I'm assuming I'll change it every 10-12.5k; it runs synthetic so there's no reason for the 3k mile oil change.
